Codex
A living glossary of Primeye's world. Some entries are settled; others are markedunconfirmedon purpose — Book One doesn't answer everything, and neither does this page. Check back as the series grows.
Known Terms
Primeye
The name for what Ren can see — an unfinished layer beneath the ordinary world, visible to him and, as far as anyone in Halloway knows, no one else.
The Sight
Ren's word for what happens when a pattern becomes visible to him: a crack in the sky, a thread of movement, a fault line in something about to fail. It has always made the world feel quieter — until it doesn't.
Grounding
A practice Ren and Mira develop together to keep him steady when the Sight becomes overwhelming. What it involves is something the book shows rather than the Codex spoils.
Open QuestionsUnconfirmed
The Vigil
A name that surfaces around Halloway's edges, tied to whoever has been watching Ren longer than he's realized. Their structure, their history, and what they actually want are not settled by the end of Book One.
Anchors
A term used by people who study families like the Kades. What it means for Ren specifically is one of Book One's central questions, not a settled fact.
The Unseeing
Something Ren encounters as his Sight grows stronger — a presence that sounds a great deal like his own voice. What it is, and what it wants, is the heart of the book. The Codex isn't spoiling it here.
The First Lens
An object connected to Ren's father, Elias. Its exact nature — and why more than one person in Halloway wants to find it — unfolds over the course of the story.
